Government wants to correct past wrongs

The Government is catching up with developments that past governments failed to do and is writing the wrongs of the past.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama made this comment at the commissioning of the Rural Electrification Project on Viwa Island yesterday.

Bainimarama says all Fijians, irrespective of their location in Fiji, their economic or social status, should have access to all basic amenities such as road, water and electricity.

Residents of Viwa will now have access to amenities such as refrigerators and television sets.

Government will pay for half of the tariff rate for households has an annual income of $30,000.

The initiative will be applicable from 1st January 2016.
