Finance Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has assured that the Ministry of Education will ensure every Fijian child has access to the Digital Literacy.

Sayed-Khaiyum says the programme might increase the level of productivity in students but it can also have reverse effects.

‘’In fact it can be the reverse so if you have the 4G in Suva, Nausori, Lami Lautoka and Nadi and you have everybody in the right connectivity but the people in Lau and Kadavu and various rural parts of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu don’t have access to that in fact there is a much wider gap that is created between the have and the have not and those who are connected and those who are not connected’’.

Sayed-Kahiyum says the government is mindful of such issues and this might happen if the Ministry does not take a careful approach towards the Digital Literacy programme.

The Microsoft Education Transformation Workshop is aimed at educating various school heads and Curriculum Development Officers understand more about the Digital Literacy programme.
