While officiating at the signing ceremony, Permanent Secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister Yogesh Karan assured the farmers that the government will continue to support the sugar industry.

“We will continue to work with you to ensure that we revive the industry and restore the good old days where sugar production was usually more.”

Karan says the government will help improve cane access roads, provide mechanisation and fertiliser subsidy and other incentives for cane farmers.

Meanwhile, Karan also visited a farm in Bucaisau sector to meet the farmers there.
