Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has stated that government will develop Itaukei land for the benefit of landowners.
Sayed-Khaiyum says the land development scheme will allow landowners to reap commercial benefits but this will only happen if all the legal documents are approved and signed off.
“We are progressing on projects where there is legally everything has been signed off on there is no disputes pertaining to title and there is no disputes pertaining to ownership and obviously the ones that has been given priorities as well are the ones who have got some scheme plan.”
The i-taukei land development will include the provision of electricity, water and roads to allow for sub-division and other development works as this will directly contribute to national development.
The Government is expected to vet more applications in the coming months.
