Government should focus on creating employment opportunities

November 29, 2018 11:45 pm

Creating more employment opportunities should be one of the major focuses of the government to help further reduce the unemployment rate in the country.

Opposition MP Salote Radrodro speaking in Parliament says this will help reduce the increase in social problems in communities.

Radrodro says there is quite a number of unemployed people in the Suva- Nausori corridor despite the increase in development.

“May I request the government side to stop talking about the reduction in unemployment and talk about employment policies that will create jobs for graduates and youths.”

Radrodro says this focus will also help students under the Tertiary Loan Scheme to quickly pay off their debts.

The Opposition MP also claims that dishing out $1K to help those who are unemployed will not help as it is not enough to start a small business taking into consideration the current cost of living.
