Acting Prime Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum during the handover said the remaining vehicles and motor bikes will be distributed to the relevant agencies over the next two months.

Sayed-Khaiyum says the new fleet will allow government and the Police to be more responsive to the public’s needs and demands.

“It means from today there will be 30 more police officers out on these motorcycles on the road for the ordinary people’s safety, security and maintaining their presences on the roads. The vehicles are not only going to the Force but also to the RFMF, Ministries of Agriculture, Health, Lands, Women and Poverty alleviation and a number of other agencies.”

The new government fleet is part of a four year lease agreement with Asco Motors.
