December 9, 2015 4:28 am

Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has expressed the government’s concern on the increased in the level of sexual abuse of children.

Speaking to various school heads at a workshop in Suva, Sayed-Khaiyum says this phenomena must be stopped and more awareness is needed on violence against women and children.

“And i think it is very important for all of you, you are all leaders at your various department, sections or region you have to hammer home this point, we have at the moment at the criminal justice system a life sentence for rape or sexual assault but the point is even if you have life sentence if the value system don’t change then people will continue to perpetrate this crime.”
