Government is providing cane farmers with grants as the sugar sector needs a lot of attention.

Fiji Sugar Corporation Permanent Secretary, Yogesh Karan says they’ve allocated fifteen point five million dollars as farming assistance for cane farmers
Karan says the final washout payment for farmers will be done in October.

“Fertilizer subsidy that we have put in farmers only pay $20 per bag instead of $49 and for the first time we had also rolled out $6.7m for weedicide”

He also says they are expecting a good harvest for the year.
