Government committed to renewable energy

The government is committed to renewable energy in the coming years.
Minister for Infrastructure Pio Tikoduadua says they are opening the door to local and foreign investors who want to invest in renewable energy.
Tikoduadua says many investors are already showing interest.
‘’or they are many many many different in different areas, Ive been talking to some who are thinking about doing thermal energy, there are people here who want to go more on IPP on hydro power, also in bio-mass so you know its there, wind also is an opportunity’’.
Tikoduadua says renewable energy always means high investment capital upfront.
He adds that government is urging private sectors to be part of the family of invest in producing power.
Tikoduadua also says they want genuine investors who care for the environment.
‘’investor who wants to generate power and is not going to look after the environment in the process then that investor is not welcome’’.
The Ministry of Infrastructure says they will be looking at investors who know the issues of green and blue growth with the capital and service to provide renewable power while maintaining the environment.
