Government allocates $65m to Communications ministry

Sixty five million dollars was allocated to the Ministry of Communications from the 2018/2019 national budget.

Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the Ministry manages all the ICT systems in Government.

He says they’re currently undertaking a vital investment Programme to improve the reliability and efficiency of the government’s network.

“This year we have allocated close to fourteen million dollars towards the ICT sector and that is funding some new developments and connecting Fiji to the rest of the world like never before.”

Meanwhile, five hundred thousand dollars has been allocated for the Government’s Fibre Optic Network Project.
