Get familiar with the law: AG

Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says there is a need for lawyers and those who practice and use the law to get familiar with it.

He made the comment at the launch of the Revised Edition of Laws in Fiji yesterday in Natadola, Sigatoka.

“For this initiative we have partnered with global legal publisher Lexisnexis from Australia to produce a publication that is modern and in line with international best practice. On behalf of the Fijian Government, we sincerely thank the Lexisnexis team in Australia for assisting Fiji with this publication and making it a reality.”

The editions will be provided, free of charge; to the President of Fiji, the Prime Minister of Fiji, Chief Justice of Fiji, Speaker of the House and Secretary General of Parliament, one copy each to the government and opposition political party officers in parliament, the Commander of the Republic Fiji Military Forces, Police Commissioner and the Commissioner of Correction Services.

The laws that were launched yesterday are now in effect.
