SODELPA MP Viliame Gavoka has filed a petition in Parliament this morning on behalf of the people of Navisabasaba in Nadroga.
The petition which has been signed by a 100 villagers is requesting the government to look into the land they live on.
Gavoka says the residents live on 26 acres of land and government has recommended that it now accommodate the extension of the village.
‘’So if that goes away madam Speaker they have nowhere to go. Madam speaker right next to their land is Maro about 4000 acres. They have been requesting the authorities to acquire that land, so I would like to ask the committee of parliament to help them secure this’’.
Gavoka says the land in question is in the Natadola Basin and it’s important for the matter to be resolved before Natadola’s full potential as a tourist destination is realised.
