People who suffer from stomach and intestine disorders will longer need to travel overseas for treatment.

There are now doctors available at the CWM Hospital along with the equipment needed to treat patients.

Associate Professor Medicine Dr Joji Malani says this is a boost for medical professionals.

“The concept of bringing them into the region and training our local doctors in this operation is quite a different concept and I think it’s probably one of the new concept compared to other programmes that are come to Fiji where it’s a service programme this is very much a skills programme.”

Doctors from around the region are currently being trained at the CWM Hospital on the operation.
