The Fiji Women’s Rights Movement congratulates all candidates on their individual victories in the 2018 Election.

FWRM also acknowledges the 56 women candidates that stood for election and young women voters who cast their votes.

Executive Director Nalini Singh says they are pleased to note that 10 women have made it into parliament, five as part of the government and 5 with the opposition.

Singh says this increases the percentage of women in parliament to 20 compared to 16 percent in the last election.

FWRM believes strongly in encouraging women’s political participation and leadership, towards building a sustainable and peaceful democracy.
