The Fiji Women Crisis Centre has mapped out its plans for this year and is working with thirteen Pacific Island countries to setup new centres.
Centre Coordinator, Shamima Ali says a lot of work needs to be done this year which includes mentoring and training.
Ali says the organization will continue to raise awareness on violence against women through its extensive community education program as well as community awareness and training for government agencies.
“We shall continue our counselling and advocacy work. We want to stronger our advocacy and working and developing the partnership with government and generally just promoting what we always do. We will be going out into the communities and maritime islands will be our first priority.”
Meanwhile, the FWCC is now working on the construction of their new shelters for survivors of domestic violence and rape, which will be based in Ba, Labasa and Suva.
