FWCC believes lot more can be done

The Fiji Women Crisis Center believes lot more can be done this year to support the victims of domestic violence.

Centre Coordinator, Shamima Ali says challenges which the center needs to overcome includes changing mindsets of the society.

Ali says more awareness needs to be created to encourage women and girls to come forward and report.

“We shall continue our counseling and advocacy work. We want to stronger our advocacy and working and developing the partnership with government and generally just promoting what we always do.”

Ali says the common attitudes and beliefs in society need to be transformed to ensure people reject violence against women and girls.

She adds especially through key channels of influence in Fiji such as education, faith and sports.
