August 28, 2014 7:00 pm

Former Fiji Trade Union Congress General Secretary and People’s Democratic Party leader Felix Anthony says the vacant position in the Union will be filled after the elections.

Anthony who resigned from the Union post to contest the 2014 elections, says the FTUC will hold a delegates conference after elections to elect the next general secretary.

He says the procedure to elect a General Secretary is to call a delegates conference and fulfill the constitutional requirements of the Union.

Anthony denied the fact that it is taking long to appoint a new general secretary saying that the union will not call its conference at a time when the country is preparing for the general elections.

Fiji Public Services Association General Secretary, Rajeshwar Singh has been appointed the acting National Secretary of the Fiji Trades Union Congress.

Anthony was speaking on Radio Fiji Two’s talkback show Aaina earlier this week.
