FTUC defer protest and march until further notice

The Fiji Trades Union Congress has decided to defer their planned protest today and march in Nadi tomorrow until further notice.

The FTUC Board made the decision after an emergency meeting yesterday afternoon.

The Board says the decision was made after noting that the FTUC General Secretary Felix Anthony continues to be in custody, union members and staff being detained, the refusal of the permit by the Fiji Roads Authority for the use of the road in Nadi tomorrow and the questioning of FTUC staff and search of its HQ premises.

However, FTUC will continue to lobby for the six issues that have been part of its campaign for the past years.

These issues include the national minimum wage, delay in labour reforms, right to strike, Vatukoula strike, unresolved Federated Airline Staff Association issues and opposing the unilateral
