The Tokatoka Nasautorotoro of Korovuto village in Nadi, today signed a joint venture with the Fiji Sugar Corporation on a 77-acre land.
FSC Chief Operating Officer, Navin Chandra says the initiative will not only benefit the farmers now but their families in the future as well.
Chandra says this is a new beginning for the 28 families of the Tokatoka Nasautorotoro.
He says the landowners have entrusted their faith in the FSC to not only develop their land but also provide them the necessary training on cane farming.
“You know have put a lot on us especially our staff as they have to go above and beyond to make sure this farm becomes a model farm.”
Landowner Mosese Varasikete says they are happy to partner with FSC as this will also provide employment to the youth in their village.
Varasikete says money earned from the sugarcane farming on the land will be split 70/30 with FSC, with the majority going towards the Tokatoka.
