The Fiji Sugar Corporation has revealed for the first time the details of the newly installed CO-Generation project at the Labasa Sugar Mill.

FSC’s Executive Chair Chair Abdul Khan told FBC News the $24m worth project began last year and was completed by the Indian Companies from India just before the crushing season this year in Labasa.

Khan says this project was commissioned at the beginning of the crushing season in Labasa which was tested and worked out well.

Khan adds the F S C is now only waiting for the fifty tonne per hour steam boiler that was partly completed under the mill upgrade program.

He says that once this is completed the co-generation project will start producing electricity all year around.

Khan says during the crushing season, FSC used steam from the Labasa sugar mill boiler from time to time without disrupting crushing at Labasa to generate electricity.
