The Fiji Sugar Corporation will continue looking for a market that will give Fiji the best return.

Chief Executive Officer Graham Clark says while they have a Chinese market, they are also looking elsewhere.

“China remains a market we will keep open for Fiji but basically, we will look for the market that gives us the best return so we earn the most money for the industry. That’s about the freight, the price, the premium.”

FSC’s first load of sugar to its Chinese market was shipped this year.

22,000 tonnes of sugar was loaded from Labasa and 11,700 tonnes will be from Lautoka for the shipment to China, which was priced at a commercial premium to the world market price.
