The Fiji Sugar Corporation Chief Executive Graham Clark has revealed that at one stage the organization had too many General Managers and Managers which they have reduced significantly.

Clark says that during the restructure of FSC, this was a notable issue which they had to deal with.

“One year into the restructure of FSC and at the end of that we looked back and we started with the very bloated top heavy structure. There were too many Managers and General Managers which was overmanned.”

Clark says that two years ago there were 13 executives who reported directly to the CEO which they have now reduced to only 4 which is now easy to manage and control.

According to Clark, the organization did not need a lot of managers.
He also stated that FSC is in a different place now compared to a few years back.

“We’ve seen a reduction of costs year on year and everything that we have done has been self-financed. If we spend on something we have to find a saving somewhere else and we have to do it efficiently and in the right way forward for FSC and the industry.”

The FSC CEO adds that staff training in their various fields were also an important aspect for them.
