The French government has congratulated Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama’s appointment as head of the Fijian government.
In a statement, French Prime Minister Manuel Valls says France is working on the regional integration of its Pacific territories into their regional environment.
He says the regions geographical and cultural proximity is an asset for the development of bilateral relations.
France which is a permanent member of the Security Council, greatly appreciates the commitment of Fiji in the peacekeeping operations under the auspices of the United Nations.
It also shares a commitment to protecting the environment.
Valls hopes that Fiji and France will continue their mobilization in addressing together the challenge of climate change, which particularly threatens Pacific Island states.
