Free WIFI for Navua launched

Government’s vision to ensure every Fijian has access to enter the digital world has not fallen short on the people of Navua.

Today people turned up in numbers to witness the launching of the free Wi-Fi spot in Navua despite the wet weather.

Walesi Director, Robert Khan says the initiative is a great tool which students can utilize while preparing for assignments and conducting research.

Khan adds it will also give an added assistance to the people of Navua to get connected with families and friends.

The people of Navua celebrated the launch with dance, entertainment and also got a chance to win mobile phones, tablets, TV set and Walesi set top boxes.

The WiFi hotspot area will allow people one hour free high speed internet each day.

Around $40m has been allocated to the ICT sector for increased speed in public Wi-Fi hotspots around the country.
