Free education expanded

The Government has allocated $35 million to primary education and $31.4m to secondary education in the 2015 National Budget.

While the budget this morning Finance Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says there will be major push in the education sector.

Sayed-Khaiyum also announced that the free education programme will be extended to preschools.

He also says 142 more new teachers will be absorbed primary schools and 206 new teachers in secondary.

The Minister for Finance also announced that next year the government will be establishing a number of technical schools to supplement the universities.

He says the FijiFirst led government is focusing on making Fiji a smarter and a clever country.
