The Free Bird Institute has received the necessary regulatory approvals to extend its business activities to operate a foreign exchange.
The Company explored this new business venture to address the concerns of its international students in relation to the costs of currency exchange in Fiji as well as the waiting time at the airports during arrivals.
Chair and Chief Executive, Hiroshi Taniguchi, says they received numerous reports from Japanese students in relation to the ease and cost of exchanging their Japanese Yen at the airports during the big arrivals.
Taniguchi says they can receive around 80 to 100 students at one time during the peak seasons and most of these students arrive in the evening and by the time they’re done exchanging their currencies, it is late at night.
