The Fiji Red Cross Society will soon be changing the way they do business to try and rope in more donors and support.
Society director general Filipe Nainoca says they really want to focus on disaster preparedness.
However, Nainoca says they do not get funding from corporate and private companies for disaster preparedness or mitigation.
He says this year they will also begin to change the way they approach their donors.
“Previously donors came in and had a set agenda and have a certain program and they said to you implement this and we will give you money. Now we are turning it around. We say look this is what Fiji needs please support us.”
Nainoca adds there is still a lot of support that can be sourced from corporate and is encouraging them to do so.
