Ambassador Fitou says other than a strong bilateral relationship, there is the potential for the two states to take on a multilateral approach particularly on issues such as climate change.

“To make the world order, a bit more stable, a bit more predictable and for this, we have to work for how to deal with international forums all over the world and my government and the government of Fiji in my view should prepare even better than they are doing today, positions, common ground, exchanging views so that this world order is more stable and more welcoming for the young people in the future.”

Meanwhile, the French government will be reinstating their consular services in a few weeks.

Fijians will be able to apply for a visa to France with a private contractor to administer the visa applications in Suva.

The visa service is expected to be available from mid-November.
