October 1, 2018 12:22 am

The Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission is in the middle of preparing its teams for the upcoming General Election.

Commission Director, Ashwin Raj, says in addition to the ground work put in for the Election Brochure now published in six languages, they are now also working
on teams to be stationed in various locations across the country.

Raj says monitoring in the lead up to and after the polling day, will be a key area of focus for them.

“Keep an eye out for things like you know for hate speeches, you know extremism, you know dissention into political violence, you know I think we need to be very very vigilant, we need to be able to receive complaints by individuals and thats where we come in terms of accountability, you know audits and so on and so forth.”
