FRA undergoes major restructure

Newly appointed Fiji Roads Authority chief executive, John Hutchinson, says they are now in the process of a major restructure of the way in which the authority carries out its work.

He says this will help in the FRA to use the new budget allocation to complete major projects around the country.

Hutchinson adds with they have had to refocus as there a number of projects, which have been undertaken by FRA.

“To attempt to do that transition and transformation internally whilst delivering a very large works programme, would be extremely difficult if not impossible. So I reduced some of the works requested. It’s too quiet a challenging work program to deliver.”

In the 2016/2017 budget, FRA has been allocated, $527.2 million, comprising $16.6 million for operating and $510.6 million for capital expenditure.
