The Fiji Roads Authority will be conducting a thorough transportation study later this year that will look into areas of proper car parking, crossing access, bus shelters and even bus routes.

Chief Executive Jonathan Moore says the transportation study aims to improve traffic movements around the country.

Moore says with major changes to the Suva City traffic movements underway, it will give them an idea of what other public assets is needed in the study.

“You can’t just look at one thing isolation without considering the outside, this is the first good step because it will work. It will take a bit adjustment for people and there’s no doubt about that but it’s the first step to make it better but the transportation study should do the full information and that’s planned to start later this year.”

Meanwhile, FRA says they will also be looking at the possibility of a Parking Rights Scheme in the future.

He adds the scheme will address issues of illegal parking and provide provisions of parking spaces.
