FRA to work on four lane project

The Fiji Roads Authority will work on a four lane road project from Nadi to Lautoka as announced in the 2018/2019 national budget.

Chief Executive Jonathan Moore says an initial feasibility study was carried out last year.

Moore says they will be finalizing the transportation assessment, design concept and land issues over the next 12 months.

Infrastructure Minister Parveen Kumar says they’re currently working on two four-lane projects to reduce traffic woes.

“Right now we’ve got two programs as far as four lanes are concerned, one is from Nausori to Nakasi and that’s an ongoing project for us and the Nadi-Lautoka four lane in this year’s budget there’s some funds allocated for the planning and design so once all that is completed than we will start with the construction work.”

The FRA has confirmed the physical construction work is scheduled to begin later next year.

The project is expected to be delivered over a two year programme
