FRA to install mid-block pedestrian crossings in Suva

The Fiji Roads Authority has begun the installation of mid-block pedestrian crossing traffic signals on Rodwell Road and Stinson Parade Bridge in Suva.

Acting General Manager Electrical Musheer Khan says they will also be upgrading 11 traffic signal sites in the coming months under the Traffic Signal Maintenance Program.

He says the installation of the two new mid-block pedestrian crossing traffic signals will enable a safe crossing for pedestrians along these two busy routes and will also allow the efficient flow of vehicular traffic.

He says they will work to keep disruptions to a minimum and works which require lane closures will be carried out during off peak hours.

All works at Rodwell road and Stinson Bridge is anticipated to be completed over the next four weeks.

Meanwhile, upgrading of the traffic signal lanterns on Mark / Thompson Street has been completed while works on the Nabua traffic signals are in progress.

The upcoming traffic signal lantern upgrading are at Lakeba Street, Samabula FNU, Grantham Road, Cunningham Road, Centre Point and Laqere intersection.
