FRA struggles to find contractors

December 26, 2016 7:13 pm

The Fiji Roads Authority is struggling to find contractors which meet requirements for building roads and bridges.

Chief Executive, John Hutchinson, has revealed that they have re-advertised numerous tenders for 2017 because no one has applied.

“We’ve already had one tender for a bridge repair to go out and not one single company submitted a price to carry out the repairs so that has gone back to the market again.”

Over twelve hundred road networks suffered damage during Tropical Cyclone Winston, of these seven hundred and five have been repaired and are fit for use.

Hutchinson says they’ll be advertising twenty-five tenders involving thirty-five projects soon.

These projects include TC Winston repairs, high priority bridges, rural road repairs and street lights.
