FRA plants 5000 mangrove plants

FRA chief executive Jonathan Moore says this was done to account for the trees removed for the construction of the new Tamavua-i-Wai Bridge.

The Fiji Roads Authority has planted 5000 mangrove plants at the Suvavou Village Foreshore.

Moore says 15 mangrove trees were removed to construct the Tamavua-i-Wai Bridge but 5000 samplings were planted.

The FRA says a healthy mangrove system is becoming increasingly important.

FRA staff, villagers, and volunteers from the World Wildlife Fund were part of this event.

According to FRA, the Tamavua-i-Wai Bridge is progressing well and is anticipated to be completed by early next year.
