The Fiji Roads Authority is planning a major construction to replace bridges around the country over the next five years.

Chief Executive Jonathan Moore says seventy bridges will be replaced.
However, he says that in the short term, seventeen of the seventy bridges will be replaced in the next two years.

“It’s a phased change of the bridge. Our inspections give life of the bridge. So our inspectors go and look at the bridges and they will say that we got about two years on this bridge or we got five years on the bridge, we than have a choice either to replace the bridge within that period of time or they also recommend remedial action to support the bridge.”

Meanwhile, the Tamavua-i-Wai Bridge outside Suva which is a major link between the capital city and Lami will be replaced within twelve months.
