FRA monitors Veisari Lami area

The Fiji Roads Authority are monitoring the Queens road in Veisari Lami by routine patrol every 24 hours following a landslide early last week.

The landslide had halted the traffic in Veisari for few hours as the slipped earth from the hillside extended across the road with the buildup of debris over two meters deep.

Chief Executive Jonathan Moore says the engineers have also noticed cracks on the road and are now working on it.

“They also noticed some lateral cracks appearing on the ground on the other side of the road so rather to allow the slip now they are taking action in advance to stabilize the area.”

He says they are liaising with the landowner regarding any plans to stabilize the hill.
