FRA holds projects to avoid congestion

January 2, 2018 4:06 am

The Fiji Roads Authority has put on hold a number of projects in an effort to help reduce traffic congestion.

FRA Chief Executive, Jonathan Moore says the total number of road projects currently underway is way too much and has caused major traffic in most places, especially during peak hours.

”Two projects should be ongoing now, but it’s not because if we are working on Kings road, on Queens road, on Princes Road, on Vatuwaqa bridge, on Grantham Road and on Stinson road and then start doing 23 roads in Suva, we might as well fly out three years and come back after a long holiday because you may not move in the city.”

Moore says they have begun a proper logistical plan to help minimize road congestion when works are underway.

Meanwhile, FRA works continues to ensure road networks around the country are maintained for the safety of commuters and drivers.
