FRA begin construction on temporary Bailey bridge at Vesidrua

The Fiji Roads Authority will soon begin construction of the new temporary Bailey bridge at Vesidrua in Seaqaqa.

FRA contractors were mobilized to the site to conduct preparatory works.

A significant area beside the existing bridge has been cleared to allow for the assembly of the Bailey bridge before it is installed.

FRA aims to open the temporary bridge beside the existing bridge in late June or early July.

It will accommodate the legal weight limit of 32 tonnes.

Meanwhile, the Land Transport Authority continues to monitor the weight of heavy vehicles crossing the Vesidrua Bridge.

FRA wishes to advise all heavy vehicle owners to please comply with the vehicle axle load limit of 18 tonnes for the bridge.
