An investigation is underway in relation to an incident where four passenegers including a child in panic jumped off from a moving bus at Nausori Village Roundabout yesterday.
Director Traffic SSP Mahesh Mishra says the passengers are claiming that they asked the driver to stop the bus when they noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment.
He says that the four made several requests to the driver to stop however he continued to drive towards Nausori town and in a panic they broke the glass and jumped from the moving bus.
SSP Mishra says if investigations prove the claims to be true, then this is a serious concern as Public Service vehicle drivers should be fully aware of the importance of prioritizing the safety of their passengers at all times.
The four were treated at the Nausori Health Center.
Police are carrying out the investigation together with the National Fire Authority and the Land Transport Authority
