Four arrested after drug raid

Operations around the four divisions have stepped up their focus on drugs during this festive season anticipating peddlers to be looking for quick means of earning money.

Two raids were conducted in the Eastern Division last night and four people were arrested for their alleged involvement in drug related activities.

A raid conducted at the home of a thirty-three-year-old self-employed man in Nakasi resulted in the seizure of white crystals believed to be methamphetamine and apparatus allegedly used for manufacturing the drugs.

A twenty-eight-year-old man and a twenty-nine-year-old woman were also arrested.

Police continue to question them while the substances have been sent for analysis.

In the second raid conducted at a billiard shop in Nausori, the team found a white plastic containing sachets of dried leaves hidden under a drain pipe.

The leaves have been sent for analysis.

Chief Operations Officer, ACP Rusiate Tudravu, says the officers continue to gather information from the public and have taken note of those actively involved in the illegal trade.

ACP Tudravu says it is encouraging to receive the support from the public and officers are working on all information gathered.
