The clearing of debris from the burnt MH Supermarket in Nabua just outside Suva is expected to be done by the weekend.

A foul smell has been plaguing residents and businesses in Nabua since a fire completely destroyed the building two weeks ago.

Construction Equipment Hire Ltd is in charge of clearing the debris.

Company Director Pillay Gopal says as the debris is cleared, the foul smell should also stop.

“We may make special arrangements with the landfill and the City Council where inspectors will go to bury the items and ensure that nobody starts snatching and things like that.”

Police confirm, they have received the investigation report from the National Fire Authority, but it is not known when the report will be released to the media.
