Foul language on texting platform a concern for committee

November 4, 2017 10:46 pm

A degree of caution needs to be exercised by the public when making their submission to the Independent Bus Fare Review Committee.

Committee Chair, Joel Abraham, is warning the public to refrain from using foul languages when sending their issues and concerns using the free texting platform.

The committee conducted a consultation in Labasa yesterday with views from market vendors, bus drivers and members of the public.

“We managed to get a lot of good views, there were market vendors that came through, there were people who were out marketing they expressed their views. People spoke about issues of being unable to top up their e-ticketing cards and how the fares were being detected out of their e-ticketing card.”

Abraham says the idea of these consultations, is to get the views of bus operators and bus stakeholders which are the public.

He says the committee will not take this issue lightly and is liasing with the Police on what actions need to be taken to address this issue.

The committee will be conducting consultations in the Central/Eastern divisions from Monday.

Those who are unable to attend these consultations are advised to send views to [email protected] or text their views to 336, free of charge.
