Former PWD workers in court

Eleven former Public Works Department workers who were charged with abuse of office, causing a loss and obtaining financial advantage appeared in the Suva High Court this morning.

Ana Laqere, Navitalai Tamanitoakula, Amelia Vunisea, Vaciseva Laqai, Vilisi Tuitavuki, Losalini Toroca, Laisa Halafi, Tavenisa Tavaga, Taniela Railala, Eparama Racumu and Kiniviliame Taviraki appeared before Justice Priyantha Fernando.

Defence Counsel, Aseri Vakaloloma wanted more time as they have not been able to finalize the proposed agreed facts.

He also says he will be meeting with all his clients this evening in Nausori to prepare for the next court sitting.

The 12th accused Shalendra Kumar Director of Professional Stationery Limited appeared later.

He is charged with obtaining a financial advantage.

The 12 area alleged to be involved in corrupt dealings amounting to $93,000 which occurred between February and May, 2010.

The case will be recalled on the 9th of December.
