Former President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau to continue advocacy work

After six years as the head of State, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau has officially stepped down.

“Thank you, Vinaka Vakalevu, Sukriya, Bahut Dhanyawad. May God bless you all and may God bless Fiji.”

Accorded a state farewell yesterday, the statesman extending his thanks to the people of Fiji, in particular the civil service and the disciplined forces for their service to state.

And while Ratu Epeli has officially retired from the Office of the President, he will continue to lobby for causes close to his heart

“I will be committed to continuing my advocacy on HIV/AIDS and to continue my close contact with the national, regional and international humanitarian organizations and other just causes.”

The out-going President called on all Fijians to rally behind the President Elect – Jioji Konrote who will take office today.
