A plea of mercy from the Court was made by the lawyer of Imshad Izrar Ali during his mitigation hearing in the Suva High Court yesterday.

Ali has been convicted of one count of murder.

The Court heard Ali murdered his de-factor partner Rajeshni Sharma on the November 3rd, 2009 at her residence in Rewa Street Samabula, Suva.

State lawyer yesterday told the Court that the aggravating factor is that the accused used a weapon and violence which led to the death of the kindergarten teacher.

The lawyer also stated even though they sympathized with the accused due to his medical conditions, he had committed a crime which warranted a life imprisonment term.

Ali will be sentenced in the next hour.
