A former parliament staff is claiming that he was forced to resign for allegedly taking a video of the altercation between PM and Opposition MP Pio Tikoduadua.

Iliesa Raiduduva who admits shooting the video with a Parliamentary video camera claims he was not responsible for leaking it to an anti-government site, Coup Four Point Five and others.

Raiduduva also admitted making copies from the official video which could have been leaked by any of the other Parliament staff.

“I was told by the Secretary General to Parliament that there’s an allegation against me that I leaked video out to the media. And I was told by her that she got evidence and my named popped up in the Privileges Committee. I was told by her that I have breached the principles of parliament in term of neutrality. She told me she’s going to terminate my contract and later she said that she can’t terminate my contract because the reason known to her is that it’s very hard for her to send people home so I had to give her my resignation letter before morning tea break on Friday.”

Raiduduva maintains that what he did was not wrong claiming he was using Parliament assets to record something that could have been used as evidence by either party.

“To be honest, I have a copy of the video. And I did it. What I did was made a copy of the video because I believe it will be used by government or by opposition but not by the speaker of parliament or the Secretary General to parliament. And I was the other one who instructed my other friend to keep a copy of the video so that’s what actually happened and I was forced to resign.”

Meanwhile, FBC News approached the Secretary-General of Parliament for a comment on the matter and she’s refusing to comment on the issue.
