Former employee of a Suva printery charged

A former employee of a printery in Suva, who is charged with one count of obtaining financial advantage by deception, was produced in the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday.

Pranesh Kumar who is charged by the Fiji Independent Commission against Corruption appeared before Magistrate Jioji Boseiwaqa.

It is alleged that Kumar unlawfully filled out a cheque belonging to the government, falsified a signature on the said cheque and cashed the same in the amount of one thousand seven hundred dollars.

FICAC Prosecutor informed the court that the first phase of disclosures have been served to the accused.

Kumar was charged earlier by FICAC for obtaining over five thousand dollars.

He has been released on bail bond of three hundred dollars.

The matter has been adjourned to November 23rd.
