Former Divisional Police Commander acquitted

A former Divisional Police Commander has been acquitted by the Suva Magistrates Court, this afternoon, following a ruling on a no case to answer, which was filed by Defence.

Isei Vueti has been acquitted of one count of indecent assault and one count of annoying any person.

Resident Magistrate Liyanage Wickramasekara says he did not believe the two witnesses who took the stand at the time of the last trial.

Vueti is alleged to have indecently assaulted a female officer, in 2013 when the victim was based in the Lami Police Station.

Defence Counsel, Mohammed Yunnus says his client will go back to the Force.
