Former civil servant in court for alleged forgery

A former civil servant appeared in the Suva Magistrates court yesterday afternoon charged with two counts of uttering of forged documents and giving false information to public servant.

Ekbal Hussein on the 11th of November, 2006 is alleged to have uttered a forged document namely a Certificate of Diploma in Islamiyat of the Madresa Nur-Ul Islam Institute, with the Fiji Public Service application form, to the Ministry of Education.

It is also alleged that Hussein gave information, which he knew to be false, namely professional qualifications in Diploma in Urdu and Islamiyat.

The accused has been released on $1,000 bail bond and has to abide by regular bail conditions.

The second phase disclosures will be served on the 23rd of next month.
